BIOL 425/525 - Herpetology

Picture



A comprehensive survey of the Amphibia and Reptilia, including their origin, evolution, phylogenetic relationships, ecology, and natural history. The course is divided into five sections: 1) Caecilians and Salamanders, 2) Anurans, 3) Turtles and Crocodilians, 4) Squamata I: Tuataras and Lizards, and 5) Squamata II: Amphisbaenians and Snakes. Laboratory will focus on classification, identification, and current literature, and will include fieldtrips (weather permitting). Taught during Spring semester of odd-numbered years.
